Boots  2  Architecture  5

A good game with plenty of goal mouth action but ultimately another defeat for the Boots. It all started very well. Two clinical Shi Li strikes mid way through he 1st half put the Boots two up and looking comfortable. Alas it wasn’t to last. A poor throw out by Gudjackson left Boberto cornered by 3 players. He tried hard but ultimately lost out and Architecture were through to pull one back. Then just before half time a surging run and powerful shot into the far corner of the Boots net left things all square at the interval. Chances were abound in the 2nd half and things remained even for a while until Architecture dealt two killer blows in the space of a couple of minutes. First a good strike through a crowded area found its way into the far corner of the net. Then a shot from distance was seemingly well covered by Gudjackson until the hapless keeper was left gazumped by a quick thinking striker who prodded the incoming shot into the goal. The Boots fought back and were unlucky not to score but right at the death Architecture made it 5 with an angled drive that turned out to be the last kick.
Despite the score this was an encouraging performance and the Boots were certainly competitive. A draw would not have been an unjust result. Davids put in another top notch display covering acres of ground and winning just about every ball he competed for. Shi Li – two goals, lightening quick pace and the Skill Boot moment! Timinator – although he forgot his kit he came along and put in a hard working performance as sub despite lacking grip without his astro boots and would probably have scored if he had had them. Millerdona – good to see him back. Lots of running and his usual beautiful feet. Unlucky not to score. Also hampered by poor grip. Boberto – a great game! Combining very well with Davids in the centre of defence. Lots of great defending culminating with a challenge two yards from goal when another conceded goal seemed a certainty. Class. Rich –lots of skill and getting quicker. Once he starts kicking people back he will be unstoppable!! Unlucky to be denied by an illegal sliding challenge. Wolfgang – it was hard going for Wolfy after such a long lay off but he kept going and gamely kept chasing. Held the ball up well.
Iron Boot: Boberto for his tough fair challenge at the end to defy the Architecture forward from two yards out.
Skill Boot: Shi Li. Not for his goals, although they were great efforts but for his dummied turn in the first half that nutmegged his marker and left him running clear. Brilliant.
Soft Slipper: Tim and Dan for forgetting their kits!!
