Boots  1   Biology  4

A comprehensive defeat in the end and to be honest there can be no real complaints. Although it was the Boots who made a bright start with a sweeping move and shot on target in the first minute, Biology soon dictated the pattern of the match. After a couple of goalmouth scrambles Biology took the lead with a fierce shot that flew through a crowded penalty area. Within a few minutes it was 0-2. The ball was given away in centre field from where the advancing Biology striker hit an outstanding effort that bent around the despairing Gudjackson at full stretch into the top corner. It could have been three a minute later when a Biology player broke free but this time the Boots keeper managed to get enough of a touch to turn the ball around the post. Half time came as a relief (although it was not clear if this was because of a suspension in play or for an opportunity to admire the volunteer ball girl!). At the start of the 2nd half it was quickly 0-3 when a dangerous attack wasn’t cleared and an inviting chance was taken with aplomb into the bottom corner of the net. After this the Boots came back into the game and a few shots flashed wide and one effort was brilliantly cleared of the line with the keeper well beaten. Biology still created chances though and although Gudjackson produced a couple of “TV dives” a simple 4th goal was conceded from a tap in after a break on the Boots left. Shortly after Wes scored with a neat header although he took a bit of a poke in the eye for his efforts. McManaHusbands flashed a shot wide and then forced a fine save from the keeper as he almost repeated the goal from the week before against ACE. Alas this splendid spell in the last 5 minutes failed to produce a miraculous comeback and the Boots slid to another defeat.
It was another game dominated by injuries, Millerdona, Boberto and Dan already having been ruled out. With a knee awaiting surgery Gylonso fought on gallantly and towards the end of the 1st half Tim went down badly on his ankle and played no further part. Wes scored again and battled away up front and also picked up an eye injury. Andy was solid at the back kicking the ball and opposition alike. Davids ran his socks off clearing the ball from defence then shooting on goal within a minute. Philgo did his thing, professional as ever. It must be a real culture shock for him to play for the Boots and ACE! McManaHusbands showed his class again tackling hard and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Ian was another to run and run and was also unlucky not to score towards the end. Our day will come.

Iron Boot: Andy. Biology broke three on one at the end but Andy swept across the pitch to hammer the ball out of play and get a bit of the man with it.

Soft Slipper: Gudjackson. A floating ball across goal was missed by the Biology forward and drifted towards goal. Instead of catching the ball and staying on his feet he produced a totally needless flying “tv dive” to turn the ball behind.

Skill Boot: Wes and David. Wes for his deft flicker header for Gyles to run onto in the 2nd half. David for racing the length of the pitch to block a shot and probable goal with the last touch of the game.
