Folks, As Sports have had to withdraw from the league I've considered the options of what we do with their results to date and outstanding games. As Sports won four and drew one game then if I gave 5-0 defaults to the teams who had yet to play them that would make quite a difference to the league positions. In other words teams near the bottom fortunate enough not to have played Sports would get a most unexpected points bonus and the league wouldn't reflect on-pitch performance. Therefore the option that I've chosen is to scrub their previous results which simply improves the goal difference of those teams that played them and lost. The exception is OCS who drew their game against Sports and would lose their hard earned point. In recognition of this fine performance, and to make the league reflect actual performance, I've decided to keep let this result stand and allow OCS to keep the point. Those who scored in the scrubbed games also keep the credit for those goals scored.
Hope this is ok with everyone.
While I'm at it I would just like to clarify a point that some of the more anal members of my team have been going on about for far too long - the rules of the league don't state anything about the keeper's distribution of the ball, so I guess my interpretation is as official as it gets:
- Goal kicks must be taken as a dead-ball kick. - From a back pass in open play the keeper can pick up and hold the ball and can distribute it by whatever method he so chooses.
Any objections, comments or alterations to this, or may I add it to the league rules?
