Another defeat but a much better performance against a much better very well organised side. Mech Eng took the lead mid way through the 1st half but the Boots levelled through Wes with a carefully placed effort after being set up by Rich who received a terrific long throw by me (which went straight to 3 Mech Eng players but they all missed it!). Unfortunately parity didn't last long and we were 1-2 down when the defence parted like the red sea and a shot from distance went under Gudjackson when it would have been easier to have made a cup of tea, read a book and stopped the ball with my foot. A bit more shape in the 2nd half saw several chances fall our way but alas it wasn't to be a Mech Eng wrapped it up with a close range effort towards the end. However, excellent team spirit was shown by the Boots today and despite the rain and the result it was an enjoyable game to play in against a decent set of guys. Another big pat on the back to everyone today. Terrific commitment by Bo who ended up playing the whole game (and almost scored). Rich, suffering from a bought of flu, showed dedication to the cause and exhibited a few neat turns and touches - one of which set up our goal. Wes - great finish, very cool. Unlucky with a couple of others. Andy - some tough tackles, some surging runs and even a shot on target until it took a deflection near the half way line. Philgo - professionalism personified. Skilfully managed to miss at the end to maintain his claim to always be on the winning team when he's scored. Tim - despite a hectic schedule of marathon training played an energetic box to box role that nearly bought him a goal or two. Very calm in possession.

Iron Boot Award: Andy (again!). Towards the end shrugged off his man in the middle of the pitch as if he wasn't there leaving his opponent felled, dazed and confused - just like Andy ;-)
