Boots 1 Social 3
There was a real end of season feel to this game and a last
minute tactical change lead to much hilarity and almost worked out! An
unfamiliar 3-3 formation took a while to bed in but did mean the boots carved
out quite a few chances. As ever a bit of ball chasing in defence split us open
but I think we are all guilty of that from time to time. It was pretty even stuff but Socials broke
the deadlock….. But not for long Ian Rifled home from distance (which perhaps
got deflected) leaving the Social keeper stranded and we back on level
terms…..but not for long as Socials edged forward again. The boots weren’t
deflated and we managed a few more efforts on goal with long distance efforts
from Dan and yours truly forcing saves from the Socials keeper. Another
glorious chance was missed by me, leading us into half time 1-2
The second half started cagily but on the whole the Boots
were getting the better of it while perhaps being guilty of not throwing enough
players forwards to force a goal. As ever we conceded on the break and while
not out of it, it was always going to be difficult to get back on level terms.
We forced a couple more saves from Social and Phil hit a pile driver that hit
the post in the dying minutes. The only other event of note was what appeared
to be a body check/push from Razor on one of the socials players that provoked
a bit of a reaction to say the least! Final score 1-3
Perhaps 3-3 is not the best formation to play (but it was
bloody good fun!)
Skill (fluke) boot: Ian for his goal
Iron Boot: has to be the iron master, Razor, any more like
that and you’ll get banned son!
