Boots 4 – 1 ACE
What a start to the game! Within a couple of minutes it was
a much improved boots side over last season, Mark really is making the
difference in midfield. The boots looked sharp and lots of passing to feet was
in action. On about our third attack there was an obvious handball by an ACE
defender and Mark slotted home the penalty 1-0 to the Boots. Literally seconds
after we were on the attack again and Dan slotted home a lovely shot from the
left of the area. The boots continued to look good and a couple of minutes
later after some nice passing play Mike got the ball on the left hand edge of
the area and thundered it in with a
peach of a shot 3-0 to the boots! More was to come again we looking threatening
with nice passing from defence to the wings (where both Mike and Bobby were
causing Chaos), the ball came in from the right (?) was partially cleared and
then found its way to Mark who slotted home to make it 4 nil.
There was a slight slackening off in play after that but the
Boots still dominated; other incidents of note were a penalty to ACE who put it
away neatly. Mark got a good thwack to the balls and had to come off. After
that both Wolfy and Terrence joined the fray and Terrence was unlucky not to
score in what was the longest and funniest goal mouth scramble I have ever
seen!
The second half started off a little cagey with the Boots
looking a bit ragged and some mistakes stared to creep into play. This gave ACE
a few chances and we had a few close shaves, wonder saves were produced by both
Tim and Mark, ACE even managed to hit the post. Even so the boots were still
creating most of the chances, Bobby must have missed about 10 all on his own
(sorry Bobby better luck next week!). Terrence came on and had a blinder on the
left wing while Mike went up front and succumbed to the curse of the Boots
striker missing a couple and forcing a few saves as well. The Boots were well
in control now and in the final 10 min Dan was twice denied by fine saves as
I’m sure Bobby, Mike, Jez, and Mark were too! The positive thing about all the
unconverted chances in the second half was that they were mainly on target and
only great keeping kept the scoreline down to 4!
Well done lads!
Boot on debut: Mark, with two goals to boot!
Skill boot: Would be unfair to give it to one player perhaps
the man of the match vote will decide it.
Iron Boot: Mike for taking one of the worst and most obvious
fouls I have ever seen in a Boots game, runner up perhaps Terrence who manages
to get kicked in the shin while going for a header!
Special mention Tim who did a sterling job in goal even
though he did most of the work with his feet!
