Boots 1 Biology 2
A chilly November lunch time set the scene for this match
with a slightly more familiar side than the one that was drubbed by Inter two
weeks ago. The match started well for the boots, new boy Dan looking
comfortable on the left wing even if it turns out not to be his favoured
position. We quickly set to work
pressurising the Biology defence and for the first 10 or so min they hardly
seemed to get into the boots half. Eventually all the boots pressure paid off,
a nice shot from Dan was blocked by the Biology keeper with Mike waiting in the
wings to slot it home. Biology managed to hit the bar in a solitary attack but
that was about it. The Boots continued to look sharp and Mike dropping in to
wide positions to feed it to Dan in the box looked like it may produce more
goals. Despite a multitude of chances
for the boots the closest we came to scoring was a cross from Mike that was
intercepted by a defender and only just blazed over the bar. In the final 5 min
of the half biology got back into it a bit, causing trouble down our left flank
but luckily they never really got a shot on target.
The second half started with disaster for the boots, Biology
looked snappy and direct while we were napping, unfortunately a horrible deflection came off Jez for a sickning own goal. The boots soaked up a bit of pressure but the
pacey and skilful Biology side caused us
quite a bit of trouble at the back but without really troubling James who was
having a blinder. However a stunning shot went into the top right hand corner
to make it 2-1 to Biology. For a period after this it was all hands to the
pumps for the Boots with some real ragged defending as we pushed on a bit and to
be honest leaving Jez too exposed at the back especially as badly drawn boy has
both skill and Pace. Tempers then flared a bit, shape and positions went to the
dogs but in the last 5 or so mins we really went for the win; James was playing rush keeper while Wolfy,
Mike, Ian, Dan, Jez and Christian all had good efforts, forcing some good saves
and even hitting the woodwork. Alas it was not to be and it finished 2-1. While
a draw would have been fair result, in my opinion, based on their second half
performance (and our self destruction in terms of positional discipline)
perhaps Biology just deserved to edge it.
Boot on Debut: Dan, good game with lots of chances looks
like he will be a good signing for the boots
Iron Boot: Jez? Christian? Can’t remember who it was who
bundled over the biology striker in a fair but punishing tackle
Skill boot: I’m giving it to mike for his hold up play in
the 1st half
Betting update: If it remains like this James better sell
all his possessions to get the money to keep the drink flowing
Next week: Maths/CS, we need to be organised and disciplined
for this one, a win could keep us there, or there about, in the title race lets
not give up yet!
