Boots 1 Chemistry 1
It was a quiet and nervy start for the boots as we quickly
went 1-0 down, almost all of the boots looked out of sorts with no one more to
blame than anyone else. The first half was also a welcome back for Phil who after
a long spell in the reserves struggled to adapt to an unfamiliar left wing
position covering a seriously unfit Ali we’ll have to think where his best spot
is (and I will need to go on a diet)! However thanks to our solid back line of
Christian and Jez we stemmed the flow and looked like getting back into it. To
be honest our forwards suffered from a lack of supply for most of the half and
were not in the game as much as we would have liked. Chemistry had the lions
share of possession and play but in
fairness, were soon reduced to long shots which they were fortunately all to
happy to take especially as a few passes would have probably finished us off at
that point. However the new look boots ended the first half with some good play
and were starting to look dangerous especially in the last 5 or so mins with
some excellent play coming from the right had side to putting pressure on Chemistry’s
nervous looking keeper. The best chance probably fell to Jez who fluffed his
chance for a 1st boots goal.
Unfortunately the boots didn’t start the second half well,
we were again quiet and chemistry seriously looked like they could squeeze
another past us if we didn’t sharpen up. I seem to remember James having to
make a couple of last gasp saves but the boy looks comfortable between the
sticks and we kept the score down. Luckily, the boots soon their feet and as
the half edged on we possibly started to look like the better team, albeit
without ever really dominating. What we did start to do was put pressure on chemistry’s
keeper, forcing him into a couple of saves. At one point I thought I was going
to repeat last weeks feat and pick up the scraps from a spillage from the
keeper but he held firm; but not for
long! The boots aggression stepped up and so did Christian (after the injustice
of not having an assist mentioned last week) who fed Ian on the right of the
area who, in turn, coolly slotted home a beauty from an acute angle to level
things up. From there on Chemistry tried to kick on a bit, but they lost their
cool (and a couple of balls) resorting to wild shots from distance. This suited
the boots we forced a series of goal line scuffles which could have lead to us
nicking a winner, including what looked like a dreadful miss from Ian (still no
complaints as his goal was sublime). All in all, no complaints a draw was a
fair result.
Skill Boot: Ian, lovely finish for the goal
Iron boot: The man has made it his own the award goes to
razor who in my mind managed to twat people in both penalty areas nice one my
son!
WTF!? Comedy Boot: Me, for thinking Mike had collected a
ball when he had left it for me, schoolboy stuff!
Betting update: I think a steward’s enquiry has put the
frighteners on any bribing of the opposition.
