Boots 1-0 Social Science
Well, at times it was like Scotland V France particularly in
the second half but organisation and determination kept us going and the result
was the same!
The first half was a fairly uneventful the boots didn’t
really carve out any clear cut chances but niether did social except for one scare when the ball
rattled off the top of the bar, thankfully there was no Russian linesman so we could
breathe a sigh of relief. Social didn’t claim it and our own linesman Phil
assures me that there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that it went over,
Honest Gov! Like Arsene I did not see the incident.
The second half was a bad tempered affair with frustration
creeping though both sides but we kept our shape better and I think Jez turned
into Gandalf in “None shall Pass” mode. On that theme, it was a Stirling performance again from the back
2 yet again with Christian putting in a no-nonsense display (for the more
seasoned of boots, is he slimmed down version of big Andy?). On the whole Social
dominated possession and chances with some fine stops from James, whose knees
began to look like they’d been in a fight with a cheese grater! He’s kept clean
sheets for two weeks in a row now, a fact his mother would be amazed at!
Stirling performances were
seen across the park with the boots looking at times shaky but managing to keep shape, Wolfy busted a gut upfront as did Ian in the middle. After
weathering a torrid time of pressure Jez put a pinpoint long ball from the back
(best assist ever?) straight to Wolfy who smashed it in, nice one my son! Boots
1-0 Social. It was smash and grab of the highest order, Wolfy may be from Germany
be he stole the game as if he were born a Scouser! 1-0 it remained, god only knows how but
comments from Socials were to the effect that we kept our shape better, plain
and simple. Top of the league I believe!
Skill Boot: Jez for that pass (which to be honest me and Tim
thought was too wide what do we know?) runner up Bob for a clearance that on
another day would have been an OG.
Iron boot: Christian for some tough tackling and some “black
ops” defending he’s beginning to collect em!
Betting update: The drinks are slowly accruing for James,
Ian and Mike may need to dust off those wallets and let those moths free! But
again, do I smell a rat? Some of those social misses were as if he had bribed
them with drink before the game!
