Boots 3 Architecture 3
This was an entertaining game in what was to all intent and
purposes a dead rubber at the end of the season. To be fair though the Boots
had pride to play for and they did just that. The game didn't start well and Architecture
threatened to run right over us from the off. Some desperate defending ensued
but it couldn't prevent us going 1 down to a superb strike that was curled into
the top corner of the net beyond Gudjackson's grasp. At this point the
legendary Boberto arrived after being delayed by transport and the Boots came
back to life. Davids made a great challenge in the middle of the pitch, won the
ball and made a storming run forward before laying off to Ian who finished with
aplomb. 1-1. The half finished even Stevens and the second half carried on in a
similar vein. That is until a low rasping shot left Gudjackson unsighted and
the Boots were down 1-2. But back we came and this time it was Wolfy who left
the opposition keeper with no chance as he rifled in a low effort. 2-2. With
time ticking away it seemed this would be the final score, but Architecture
were intent on breaking Boots hearts. The ball fell free to an opposition
forward on the edge of the Boots box who angled an effort towards the far
corner. Gudjackson guessed right and managed to palm the ball away only to look
on in despair as his parry dropped into the path of another Architecture player
who slotted home. 2-3. The Boots went straight up the other end and Davids
forced a good save. The resultant corner came over and bounced up in front of
Ian with his back to goal. He promptly produced a very cheeky overhead
lob to beat the keeper and restore parity. 3-3. Almost the final kick. A great
never say die spirit!
