Boots 0 Maths 3

In the end this was a comprehensive defeat by a well organised decisive Maths team. The Boots never really got going and struggled throughout to find any real rhythm. Maths quickly created chances and it wasn’t long before we were 1-0 down. Gudjackson raced out of his area to try and intercept an outswinging cross but was easily beaten by a Maths forward who had his initial effort headed of the line by Stui Costa. However, the same attacking player pounced on the rebound and coolly slotted the ball into an empty net with the hapless Gudjackson stranded. Before long it was 0-2. A sustained period of Maths pressure culminated in a clinical low shot into the corner of the net that Gudjackson should really have saved. Somehow and perhaps largely due to the excellent play of Tim, the score remained 0-2 at half time. No real effort of note on the Maths goal was registered by the Boots. The second half saw a much more spirited display with some tough defending and some decent flowing moves which at times threatened to pull a goal back. However, Maths landed a killer blow towards the end when the ball was slotted home from close range after an excellent diagonal shot had hit the base of a post. Overall a disappointing defeat but an encouraging 2nd half display.

Boots:
Toby, Wolfgang, Tim, Stu, Ian E, Ian W, Seva, Ali, Phil H

Iron Boot: Stu......for a great self sacrificing block in the 2nd half

Skill Boot: Wolfgang......as last man with a bouncing ball and forwards advancing our Germanic hero flicked the ball over the oncoming opponent, ran around him, controlled it, beat another man and put in a good effort on goal.
