Boots 2 Mech Eng 5

How did we lose? Or should that be how did we get stuffed? The Boots played very well in the first half. Within a few minutes Wes capitalised on defensive uncertainty to put us 1-0 up. Then there followed chance after chance. We could so easily have been 3 or 4 up. Towards the end of the half Gudjackson, while diving to protect his far post from an in swinging cross, had a Petre Cech moment. A knee on the Gudjackson honker resulted in plenty of blood and Davids had to act as a temporary custodian of the goal. Alas this seemed to confuse Marbs who executed a crisp finish into his own net for the Mech Eng equaliser. After half time Gudjackson resumed his goalkeeping duties only to promptly concede. A shoe through a crowded box not only left him unsighted but dipped at the last moment. But the Boots fought back and several chances were still being carved out at the other end. On debut Phil struck a great finish into the corner of the net. 2-2. This wasn't to last. A rapid break by Mech Eng saw the ball break loose on the edge of the area. Gudjackson was quick off his line and managed to get a something on the ball but not enough to stop it trickling over the line. The Boots were chasing the game now which left the defence exposed. A break away down the Boots left saw another unfortunate deflection made the score 2-4. Soon after it was 2-5. Another breakaway, Gudjackson saved the 1st shot only for the loose ball to be headed in. Oh well one of those days.
