Welcome to the Flying Boots website. This website gives a little background information on the Flying Boots football team, as well as being a hub of activity with weekly match reports, man of the match votes and results, team news and some general fun stuff.
The "Boots" as the team are more affectionately known as, was the brain child of Dr Christian Miller, who worked for 4 years as part of Bath University Pharmacy Department. The Flying Boots has and hopefully will, continue to flourish, many years after Christian's Departure. The Boots started as a friendly Wednesday afternoon kick around as a bit of fun and an opportunity to get out of the lab/office and run around. The team isn't about who's better than who or only letting people with a certain level of skill play. It's about playing together, for fun and enjoying the beautiful game and meeting new people. It really doesn't matter who wins it's the taking part that counts.
The Boots are also members of the lunch time Departmental League at the Uni, which is a fast paced, competitive staff and post graduate league. This is taken more seriously than the Wednesday kick around, and the Boots always try and pick the best possible team from whoever is available to take part in the league. The Boots have very much been a "mid-table" kind of team, some seasons doing better than others. However, the goal is still to come higher than the current personal team best of 3rd in the league. We hope that new talent this year (2008) will see us achieve our goals, and hopefully win the league.
This is the 2nd version of the website, and Boberto is working quietly behind the scenes to add extra features to this version of the website. This website has several site Administrators who can update the content via an easy to use web interface. Any member of the team can apply to have access to update the site.
