Boots 2 Biology 0 No Boberto, no Millerdona, no Dixon Dean, no Taribo Wes, no Rich, no Wolfgang, no McManaHusbands....who needs 'em! 2-0 to the Boots!! On a hot Tuesday lunchtime in August the Boots turned up to give a thoroughly professional defensive performance. Although Biology had much of the territorial possession and created several chances in the first half the Boots stood up, blocked, tackled and harried to keep them out. An outstanding clearance off the line by Davids summed up the commitment shown. On the break the Boots looked dangerous with McAlister finding some great positions in the opposition box, twice forcing great saves from the Biology keeper and then setting up a memorable first Boots goal for Ian. More tough tackling and hard graft from the Boots paid off in the second half. To be honest Biology never looked like scoring even when an additional 2 minutes (at their request to cover time lost fetching balls launched over the fence) were added at the end. Again the Boots were dangerous on the break. On one occasion Dan made a terrific break up the right beating a couple of players before getting carried away thinking he was Dan Carter and tried to convert for 3 points. Thankfully he soon realised he was playing the game known as soccer in his homeland and coolly slotted home a good cross by Ian E after superb play by the later beating his man on the left. Yet another Boots player to open his goal scoring account! Indeed it could have been even better but McAlister hit a post at the death with the game already won. Marbs - like a rock in defence.....again! Davids - a real John Terry performance complete with goal line clearance. Timinator - the return of the defender general in chief. Read the game superbly, marshalled his troops to great effect and played pretty well too! Dan - a first Boots goal! Get Carter!! Ian E - what a terrific Boots debut! McManaHusbands-esque....can their be a higher compliment? Ian - his first Boots goal! Can life get any better? McAlister - very accomplished, very hard to mark, very unlucky not to score.
Iron Boot: Davids for a bone crunching challenge on the Biology forward who never stopped yapping.
Skill Boot: Dan for suggesting we sit in the shade at half time!!
Soft Slipper: Wes for letting an insect come between him and a game of football.
