Boots 1 OCS 2
This was a game that promised so much but failed to deliver. The first half was dominated by the Boots in terms of chances and possession and this was reflected in the half time score line of 1-0. The Boots goal came after a sweeping move down the Boots right which culminated in Wes laying off a great ball across the edge of the box for Boberto, charging in like a steam train, to hit a very hard shot low like a tracer bullet into the net. Other chances came and went but at the same time OCS were looking dangerous on the break and almost got off the mark themselves on a couple of occasions. Things changed in the 2nd half. OCS began to dominate territorially and created many more chances. Mid way through the half the equaliser came. Caught out on the counter attack a great ball forward was met with a great flicked header by the OCS lone striker to beat the hapless flat footed Gudjackson. 1-1. Not long after it was 1-2. A break down the Boots right saw a superb sweeping ball played across the box that was met first time to beat Gudjackson (again flat footed). The Boots tried to rally and right at the death Wes agonisingly hit the post but it wasn't to be. Boberto - another great all round performance and a top goal to boot! Marbs - larger than life in the heart of defence. Wolfgang - solid! Looked dangerous going forward. Davids - tough tackling and marauding runs as we have grown to expect. Ian - so near to breaking his goal scoring duck, surely soon they will come? Mark (Dixon Dean) - Almost our inspirational force in midfield until his hamstring came unstrung.....Rich - midfield, attack....maybe defence next time. What versatility! Wes - oh so close! Nearly a last minute hero.....set up the goal and was routinely kicked for the rest of the match. Dan - another Boot seeking a goal. Go forth young man and you will prosper!
Iron Boot: The OCS centre back who mercilessly hacked down Wes (who didn't cry like a girl) Skill Boot: Boberto for his net busting shot after good play from Wes. Soft Slipper: Gudjackson for damaging yet another finger
