Boots 0  Maths 1

The improvement in Boots performances continues. A tough tight game eventually saw us lose out to a good Maths outfit. Maths came out of the blocks strongly and the Boots defence had to reorganise and stay sharp to keep them out. Although Maths had the better of the 1st half in terms of possession and territory the chances were shared evenly between the two teams. Rich in particular was unlucky with a great curling free kick and Ian had a shot charged down by the keeper. Alas it was Maths who made the breakthrough. A soft shot from the edge of the area caught out Gudjackson and nestled into the right hand corner of the net. Unfortunately this turned out to be the winning goal - it was a poor goal to have conceded. In the second half the Boots played an outstanding defensive game. Maths didn't have a meaningful effort on goal (except when Gudjackson attempted to spill a cross into his net - watching too many Aussie goalkeepers) and we were unlucky not to snatch something from the game with a few good chances on the break. Ian had a shot well saved by the keeper, Rich fired an effort wide, David made a great run and flashed a shot across the face of goal and Wolfgang hit a screamer from out near the touchline with the last kick of the game that the goalkeeper did well to stop. All in all a very good performance.

Boberto - exceptional display. A tower of strength! Timinator - as good as the previous week. Marshalled the defence very well in a game where we came under a lot of pressure. Wolfgang - right back seems to be his best position. He read the game well and made a series of great tackles and interceptions. Unlucky not to get the equaliser at the death. Ian - hard running from the tough midfielder. Again unlucky in front of goal. His time will come! David - excellent. Great defensive cover and some surging runs up the field on the counter. Rich - very unlucky not to score but then managed to score for Inter against ACE in a game straight after!!!

Iron Boot: David. Lots of tough tackles but one blocking tackle to prevent a shot in the 2nd half was superb!

Skill Boot: Rich. In the pre-match warm up he managed to sky a shot over the fence. However, somehow, and I doubt he could repeat it, the ball bounced back onto the pitch side.

Soft Slipper: Rich on two counts. One for crying like a girl when he was tackled and two for going and scoring for Inter and not for us!
