Flying Boots 1 ACE 3 What a difference a week makes! The score line does not reveal the quality and determination of a fine Boots display. However, this is our best ever result against ACE, even including the time when we used to be good. Well organised and hard working throughout on a very hot day the Boots took the game to ACE and created the majority of the first half efforts including a Millerdona strike against a post. Our goal came from a penalty coolly converted by Wes after his goal bound effort had been handled on the way into the net. 1-0 and thoroughly deserved. Indeed a 3-0 score wouldn't have flattered us at that stage. But just as things were looking good they went wrong. A swift break on the Boots right resulted in the ACE centre forward Phil Evans going down in the area after a challenge from Boberto. The majority of the folk on the pitch didn't even think the Boots stopper had touched the forward. Gudjackson however made a bad judgement call and conceded a penalty which was calmly slotted home. 1-1. HT. The second half saw ACE come into the game a lot more. The score was 1-2 after a fine shot into the bottom corner and became 1-3 when Gudjackson showed less agility and movement than an oil tanker to let a long range effort go under him. That really killed the game off and allowed ACE to sit back and defend out the game. Boberto: Solid! Great game and harshly done by with the penalty. Davids: Superb challenges, loads of running. His distribution has improved massively. Timinator: Worked very hard in the holding role. Organised the defence brilliantly and his running and passing set up a number of attacking forays. Millerdona: The beautiful feet were doing their thing today! A worthy shout for MoM. Ian: Another hard grafter. Lots of running, movement and great passing. Looked the business. Wes: Played his typical game very well running the line and causing trouble in the heart of the ACE defence. Great penalty. Wolfgang: Good touch and held the ball up well up front and in midfield. Rich: A short cameo from Rich saw his usual trickery on the ball. Shi Li: One of his best games so far for the Boots. Very quick. Caused trouble in the ACE defence and gave as an extra dimension. Iron Boot: Davids - for an outstanding challenge on Phil Evans in the 1st half with the ACE forward through on goal and looking certain to score. Skill Boot: A 1st half Millerdona effort that hit the post. Unlucky! Soft Slipper: Gudjackson. On two counts. Firstly agreeing to a soft penalty that allowed ACE to draw level. Secondly for letting in a very soft 3rd goal which took the game away from the Boots.
